I jumped in Saturday, with a group that served at Saving Grace, the new ministry that will be working with girls as they come out of the foster care system. I had a great time planting flower beds and laying mulch, but my favorite moment came as I was grabbing lunch. I overheard a conversation between a mom and the lady who had the vision for Saving Grace (I believe her name is Becky?). This mom had her daughter with her who was probably 7 or 8 years old, and had introduced her child to Becky. In the midst of this conversation, this mom was explaining to her daughter, “Becky is doing this ministry as her way of giving back, as her way of serving the Lord and serving others.” The mom/daughter team continued their conversation with Becky and it was neat to see Becky’s smile light up and the child respond. What a great way to show a child what it means to give back by introducing them to an example of someone who is living out the life that Christ has called us to live!
