This week in in our draw near group, we watched the Brandon Hall story. I was surprised by the response of someone in our group. After the dvd, I mentioned that we had been able to give thanks to the fact that his cancer was in remission and that he was doing very well. I was thinking, “yippee, that’s worth celebrating” but instead, one of the ladies said, “I think that is great and all-but what if God hadn’t ‘healed’ him. I’d wonder what someone would say if they weren’t getting a good report. Would they trust God anyway? I think that might be a different story.”
Honestly, that thought hadn’t even occured to me. (Don’t know why b/c it’s just like something I would ask and ponder.) Anyway, here’s the “God is amazing” part... I was able to look at the person sitting right next to her and say “K”, why don’t you share a little of your story. It just so happens that “K” has a fatal illness that has no treatment and no cure. She actually faces, everyday, the realization that without supernatural intervention she will be dead before her youngest child even reaches his 18th birthday! Not only that, but she has most likely passed on this same genetic mutation to, at the very least, one of her three children. She is just now beginning to understand what it means that He is her refuge.
How awesome is God that in our own little group, He would place together just the right mix of people to be able to help us most effectively draw near?!!! AMAZING!
